Below are the five key tools and resources students will use in this course.

In addition, the course uses the university’s Learning Management System, Canvas, to organize course content, assignments, and communication.

The Lab Manual
Students use the course lab manual throughout the semester for laboratory activities, background information, and skill development.
- Available in the Cornell bookstore
- Spring 2026 edition only; older editions are not acceptable
- No digital edition is available
- The lab manual cost includes required simulation software
Open Access Books
Required readings are assigned from free, open-access textbooks available online.
Poll Everywhere
Poll Everywhere is used during lectures to support interactive learning and real-time feedback.
- Accessed through links provided during lecture
- Students must register with their Cornell email address
- Questions count toward lecture participation grade
R – Statistical Software
Students use the free statistical software R for data analysis and graphing.
SimBio Simulations (SimUText)
This course uses SimBio simulations delivered through the SimUText platform for required assignments.
